Today I was so excited to receive my L.V. Kiki Subscription Box! I’ve been looking around the internet for a subscription box full of accessories, and I came across L.V. Kiki! Their boxes are $19/month, for 4-6 accessories! Which I think is an amazing value! I also love the fact that their boxes suit the time of the season – and Spring is my favorite season so you can probably tell I was super ecstatic to see what’s inside the box!
Let’s talk about high school for a moment. We all go through it one time or another. You may be going through it right now, or like me have already experienced what it’s really like. I think for myself I held such high expectations for high school. I wanted my four years there to be perfect, with the perfect boyfriend, and best friends that stood by my side. Well, it wasn’t all that glamorous. Looking back, I can say that I’ve changed a lot, grown a lot, since then. I wish I could give advice to high school self if that makes sense?
Being popular doesn’t matter.
I wish my teenage-self saw the bigger picture like I do now. At the end of the day, the ‘in-crowd’ or whatever you may call it, really doesn’t matter. In high school, it was so hard for me to realize that. I wanted to fit in so badly, be friends with everyone, be seen as ‘cool’. I got lost in translation of who I really was at that time in my life. And in high school, it made me extremely insecure why I wasn’t seen as ‘popular’. Was I not pretty enough? I would start to compare my looks, my clothes, my car, and in my mind I thought I wasn’t good enough. I’ve realized now that the thoughts of others aren’t important as the thoughts you have about yourself. If you think you’re the most beautiful girl, then girl you flaunt it and show everyone what you’re made of! I wish I could go back and tell myself now that it doesn’t matter what they think of you, or how they see you. Make friends, be happy, but don’t compare yourself to others. You’re beautiful just the way you are and if people can’t see that, then they are missing out!
Your heart will go on.
Cue the Celine Dion lyrics. But seriously, girl, don’t waste your time on silly boys that aren’t worth your tears. I really can’t stress this enough. I feel in high school we are naive, young at heart, but we want the most for ourselves. I was one of those girls that fell too easy. I would look into that cute boy’s eyes across the classroom and *bam* instant crush. At one point I thought a guy I talk to, like, twice, was the love of my life. Oh boy, was I wrong. Don’t get me wrong, there are couples that I was friends with in high school that are still holding strong, which I applaud them for. But realistically, you might not find the love of your life in high school. And I wish I could tell myself that school is more important because it is. I was so young, and boys shouldn’t have held my focus and my world at that time of my life. Chances are most boys aren’t looking for a serious relationship in high school, and you shouldn’t either. I wish I could’ve told myself to focus more on school, have fun, and put yourself first. High school boys aren’t worth the heartache.
“Friends” will come and go.
I thought I was going to be friends the people I knew in high school, for forever. Sometimes, I look back and ask myself, “What happened?”. Let me tell you, people do grow apart. Some people change, and that’s okay. We can’t dwell on that and blame ourselves for a friendship that just didn’t work out. I always tell myself, if it wasn’t meant to be, it wasn’t meant to be. Simple as that. But watching your “friends” walk out of your life in an instant is a hard pill to swallow. Those people that told you that they would stick it to the end, that they’d be there by your side no matter what. I wish I could tell myself, that real, genuine friends stick by your side. The people that love you, for you – not love you, for that moment. It’s still hard to think about. But I’d rather have four quarters than a hundred pennies. It’s also important to remember, that new people will come into your life. There is always a possibility of new relationships.
I can easily say my favorite season is Spring. I’ve noticed that I have a collection of makeup products that I use for a certain time of year. For Spring, pops of pinks and simple, delicate eyes are the looks I prefer season-round in particular to Spring. I just love to keep things fresh, highlighted, and pink. The products I use for this Spring are my go-to’s.
The first product is my travel-size Benefit Porefessional Primer, it’s amazing for the spring and covering up those pores while keeping my makeup smooth and long lasting. I highly recommend this product for any skin type, it’s not meant for hydrating but it’s a great primer to apply onto your problem areas to help your makeup stay on and last all day. The next product is my go-to highlight. It’s not what you’d expect, it’s a liquid highlighter. Which I have been really impressed by. It’s from Becca Cosmetics in the shade Opal. When applied to my skin it’s a bit darker but after blended out the color fades and leaves a beautiful dewy highlight. You can also pack on as much as you want to the highlight you desire – I just love it! For blush, I’ve been using a cream formula from Bellapierre Cosmetics, in the color ‘Coral’ – this is SO beautiful! I’m wearing it on my cheeks below. For eyes, I’ve been using TooFaced’s Natural Matte Eyeshadow palette. It includes soft browns and nudes (I might do a separate review w/ swatches for you guys because I love this product so much!). For mascara, the Lash Sensational by Maybelline is absolutely amazing! If you haven’t tried it yet, you need to! I’ve been through multiple mascaras – high end, low end, that haven’t done much for my lashes, but this one brings my lashes to life! For lips I’ve been using two awesome products, NYX’s Butter Gloss in ‘Tiramisu’ and Bite Beauty’s Lipstick in ‘Pepper’. Both are such beautiful lip products for Spring and give that extra, nude pop of pink! My last product is the last one I use during my makeup routine, it’s MAC’s Studio Fix+! This stuff helps my makeup last longer and helps hydrate my dry skin especially when I have to apply powders and such to my face. This product definitely just perfects your makeup and it’s one of my favorites!
Let me know what your favorite makeup products for Spring are!
Instagram is one of my favorite features on my phone. I don’t think I could live without it, to be honest, well maybe, but I don’t like thinking about it. Recently I’ve come up with a routine that gives my Instagram feed a certain theme/look, that pulls all the images together. I think I’ve been so inspired by other users of Instagram, that it’s motivated me step up my editing ‘game’. For all my Instagram photos I use either my iPhone or my Nikon 75300 to get the perfect shot. As far as apps go, I use VSCO cam, Facetune, and Afterlight. But I’m here to give you guys a rundown of how I edit my photos for Instagram step by step:
I use VSCO Cam for everything. The very first thing I do is open up my photo and select the preset “A4”, it’s my absolutely favorite, and the only filter I use. I don’t have an exact way I use it, I usually will do around +5 to +8 (depending on what looks good!). I’ve been putting the exposure down -1, and I really like how the looks, it creates an edgier, darker look (I’m totally trying to sound like I know what I’m talking about). Next, I decide to sharpen things up, this step is a must! The photo before the step just looks dull and the sharpness brings the photo to life! The next step is ‘Fade’, it’s so simple but it does give a little bit of effect to the whole photo. It’s the small things that count. Last but not least, is the Tint. Okay, this one can be complicated, I either go ‘+2’ or ‘-2’, the positive side gives the photo a more purple/pink tone and the negative side gives the photo a more yellow/green tone. I think this step depends completely on the photo itself. And I love how VSCO cam offers the grid to see what your photos would look like in Instagram beforehand.
Hope this helped you out! You can follow my Instagram here!
I just recently entered into the world of MAC Lipsticks, and I don’t know why I waited so long! These lipsticks are absolutely fantastic – Peach Blossom (left), Creme Cup (right). I wear these every, single day. I love the similarities and differences between the two lipsticks. I find that Peach Blossom works well with outfits that have warmer tones and gold jewelry. Whereas Creme Cup has a more blue undertone to it and looks so flattering with cooler tone shirts and dresses. Both lipsticks are ‘Cremesheen’, which is a creamy formula that MAC offers, I absolutely love it! I love the fact you can build up the lipsticks and they are super hydrating! You do have to reapply during the day but it’s a perfect lipstick for a boost of liveliness to your lips. You could say I’m in love! These won’t disappoint, I can promise you that!
Ultra matte liquid lipsticks are all the rage of the beauty world at the moment, and I don’t blame them! This was actually my very first time trying liquid lipsticks so I was very intrigued to find out why everyone has been so obsessed with these products! I’ve heard a lot about Colourpop Cosmetics – they have a variety of lip, eye, and face products that are only available to order online (part of the reason why it took me so long to order from them). I ordered their ‘Kitty Mini Kit’ which includes five mini liquid lipsticks. The colors range from nudes to dark berry tones. I wanted to test the different shades Colourpop had to offer, and this was the best bang for my buck. The kit includes the shades: Time Square, Bianca, Be Merry, Glitter, and Last Dance. I can tell you right now I’ve tried all of them and they are all different in their own way. Some work better than others and some look better than others. They did seem a lot darker than I was initially expecting as well! My favorite has to be the shade ‘Bianca’, I’m obsessed! I could wear this shade on the daily. I would highly recommend it. For the other shades, they were really dark. I definitely have to warm up to the dark tones on my lips. And the dark shades seem to have a ‘dry-er’ feel to them. Overall, I love the products. They have an amazing quality for the price. And Colourpop has a huge selection I’m excited about. I think the next colors I’m going to buy are – ‘Solow’ and ‘Clueless’! I love pink nudes!
I’ve learned in the recent months that you don’t need to be in a relationship to be happy. Life isn’t revolved on romance and this time in my life and maybe in yours too, we might just be trying to discover ourselves at the moment – and that’s okay. This post is about to get personal, but I think we all can find ways to relate to this topic in some way. I’ve always compared my life to others around me. I’m seeing friends progress in their relationships. They’re getting engaged, having kids. And here I am, still single. I would ask myself, why am I not in a relationship? I would create this illusion in my head that having a relationship is what creates happiness. I saw pictures on Facebook of friends and how happy they looked – why couldn’t that be me? At that time, I was really insecure. I didn’t understand why I didn’t have a relationship of my own and it just led me to believe I wasn’t good enough.
YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH
After high school, I really understood how important it is to love yourself – and I mean truly love yourself. Everyone has their own flaws and insecurities that we struggle finding the beauty of, but once you accept your whole self it’s a huge step towards being completely happy within. When I was insecure about myself I would have thoughts like, “You’re not as pretty as her“, or “No one likes how pale you are, how short you are, you hair color”, the list would go on and on. And I wanted nothing more than to change those insecurities about myself. But changing yourself for a guy or anyone for that matter will never make you happy. Accepting who you are and your whole self, because you are beautiful is going to make you happy. Confirmation from another person is never as important as confirmation from yourself. You are more than enough.
This is a time in your life to take advantage of. I never realized until now how precious the moments are when I learn more about myself everyday. And because I’m not in a relationship I spend my quality time with friends and family. I think it’s important that once you’re ready for a relationship, never force something to happen – that sets expectations in our minds for a possibility of finding a great relationship… and you know how that goes. During this time in your life, invest in yourself! Some of you may be like, but I’ve been single for so long. Trust me, if you’re planning on spending the rest of your life with one person I think being single isn’t something you should take for granted. Also, a tip from experience – don’t forget to travel and explore your surroundings. Never isolate yourself, the world needs to see your beautiful face! Spending time discovering who you are will be time spent wisely.

The list goes on and on of the expenses of your dream vacation, but I’m here to tell you there are ways to afford your dream vacation on a budget! Here are few tips for you that I’ve found helpful while planning my dream vacation! (more…)
I finally have found my holy grail foundation, guys! It’s the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup! That is quite possibly the longest name ever for a product but oh my gosh, it’s fantastic! It leaves a satin finish on the skin! I’m not sure how or why but it leaves your skin feeling softer and doesn’t cake up or crease! It’s a medium coverage foundation, very buildable, though! It stays on your face perfectly all day, I’m not kidding. Set it with a primer that you can trust and you’re golden! I’m so impressed with this product! I told myself I was going to try a new foundation and this product has been on my mind to try for awhile now. I love the shade selection. I’m of course the lightest shade, but I’m SO happy it ended up being a perfect match for my skin tone! The shades range from .5 to 12.0! What I love about this product is that it truly does look like your skin but better! It hasn’t caused a single breakout and it doesn’t dry out my already dry skin. I was looking for an everyday foundation that isn’t dewy but isn’t matte, this was the perfect balance of what I was looking for! I’m so happy with this purchase, and I will be repurchasing. It is the perfect everyday foundation! (more…)
In the recent months, I’ve become quite the book lover. Reading is such an escape from the chaos that happens day to day. It also is a way for me to put away any technology and social media, and get away for awhile. Here are a few books I managed to pick up at my local bookstore! I was super intrigued by each book. I’m a huge fan of young adult fiction – and as you can tell I do love a great fantasy novel! I have an app on my phone called, ‘GoodReads’ that allows a person to look up any book and check out user reviews! This really led me to pick up these four books based on the storyline and the reviews made by other people! (more…)
